Hi photographers,
So after a fairly dormant start to the year, we wanted to update you on
what is happening, and what could happen this term.
Arts festival/Exhibition:
The main thing this term is the Arts Festival
Friday 8th - Sunday 11th March. Along with other artwork, we will have an
exhibition of photographs by Queens' students, nicely printed and framed.
The theme this year for the overall Festival is Three. That is fairly
broad, we have had suggestions like the Trinity, three primary colours,
three dimensions, three traditional arts etc but you can mix it up however
you like.
If you have any photographs, or indeed short films - as there will also be
a film showing - send them to us. If not, get snapping and send us some
pictures when you can. We have no strict deadline as of yet, but we will
let you know when one begins to loom, so it would be great of course if you
could get some photos in as soon as.
Workshops:
Last year, photographer Duncan Grisby came in to do a workshop
with nude models. We are trying to get him involved this year. Here are
some of the pictures he took: http://www.grisby.org/Photos/712_Workshop/
We are also trying to get someone in to do some workshops in the dark room.
Let us know if you are interested in this so that we start making
arrangements.
The dark room is fully stocked (loads of printing paper and chemicals!!) so
if you have used it before and have some idea of how to use it, let us know
so we can give your name to the porters to be able to take out the key. It
is in the basement of R staircase in Dockett.
Camera to borrow:
We also have a swanky Nikon D60 which you can borrow if
you like. Again let us know so we can lend it to you, and please do because
its a lovely camera and deserves some loving.
That's all for now. Send us your snaps for the exhibition and let us know
about interest for the workshops, the darkroom and the camera.
Hope term is going well for you all!
Antonia and Thurstan
