Dear Friends,

I hope your have all been having a good summer with lots of opportunity to
take stunning pictures. I'm sure we all look forward to seeing them!

I just wanted to let you know that the Press Photographer of the Year
competition has it's exhibition on at the moment at the Royal Festival Hall
on the south bank and is well worth a look. Do go and see it if you are in
London. If the aim of a photograph is to tell a story, then these are the
masters. Of course you can use pictures to tell your own story, as so many
in our exhibition did, or to invent a new story from the things we see all
around us.

So, just for a little bit of holiday fun, why don't we try to take a series
of pictures which tell a story, just like the press photographer exhibition
does. It can be just a couple, or as many as you like, but each one should
contribute something more to the whole.

If you are lucky enough to encounter a demonstration, those are great fun
and offer endless opportunities, but I' sure with a bit of ingenuity
anything is possible. How about a series of pictures which describes
someone? You may want to think about different scales, something which
conveys a sense of the overall picture (if there is one) and details.

Have fun!

O

PS, do feel free to contribute your thoughts or experience to these emails,
learning from each other is what a club or society is all about!
