Would anyone be interested in this? Could be very interesting. I might go
myself.

Tuesday 20th November

Ryland's Room, King's College (tbc)

Two Fellows from the Royal Photographic Society (www.rps.org) are coming to
Cambridge to critique students work between 2 - 5pm. There are three ways
of getting involved in the event:

1) Come along without any photos to hear the fellows' photographic advice
to students.

2) Come with a portfolio of ten photos. The fellows will offer advice on
altering the individual photos, as well as the portfolio as a whole. If
they feel the work shows a good level of skill and competence they will
encourage the student to apply to become a Licentiate of the RPS. An
example of a successful portfolio can be found at:
www.rps.org/licentiateship/Successful-LRPS-Panel-2007

3) Come with a portfolio of fifteen photos. The fellows will offer advice
on altering the individual photos, as well as the portfolio as a whole. If
they feel the work shows a high standard of technical competence and
individual creative ability they will encourage the student to apply to
become a Associate of the RPS. Note that there is a significant difference
between the standard required for LRPS and ARPS. ARPS portfolios are more
specialised: the categories can be found at
(www.rps.org/associateship/Categories) An example of a successful portfolio
can be found at: www.rps.org/portfolio/302-Allen-Lloyd-ARPS

There are TWELVE 20 minute slots available for students bringing
portfolios. The event is free, and there is no obligation to apply for a
distinction from the RPS. The portfolios can either be printed or digital.
LRPS and ARPS are nationally recognised distinctions that can help you get
you get photographic work: which can be very lucrative during May balls.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. If you
would like to attend, with or without portfolio, email me BEFORE WEDNESDAY
14th NOVEMBER. Please fill out the form below.

Warm Regards

Ben Sheppard
