Something else you might like to be getting on with, as the theme of people
will be a longer thing while people learn to use the darkroom, is take
pictures of light. Think of this as a second project. This time of year the
sunlight is very low and rich, perfect for taking pictures outdoors and in.
Maybe you see a shaft of sunlight coming in through a doorway, or a tree
casting a long golden shadow against a wall, perhaps a moody portrait of a
friend lit from the side. Angle of light is just one possibility, the
colour of the sunlight at this time of year has a special quality. Combined
with golden autumn leaves it can be very striking, and often the glow of
the setting sun can make a beautiful contrast with the cool light from the
blue sky. Take the time to notice the light and make good use of it with
your camera.
I want to speed things up a little, so we'll meet to share the 'light'
pictures on Saturday 18th November at 4pm in the bar. That gives you two
weeks to come up with something good! The portraits will follow, but I want
to give everyone the chance to do it in the darkroom if they want.
Have fun!
Oliver
