Hello people!
Just a little bit about our first meeting on Sunday... for everyone except
James! It was a small meeting, about as small a meeting as could come under
the definition of 'meeting' actually!
The theme was Water, as you know, and we had some nice pictures to share.
James had gone to a water mill, which provided some dynamic images of the
inside workings in semi-abstract form. My couple of shots were also
focussing on the abstract side of moving water, ripples and blur. The joy
of seeing each other's pictures is to see something which may not have even
crossed your mind when you thought of water, but which nonetheless provides
an interesting and rewarding image.
Talking of interesting and rewarding images, our next meeting! This will be
on Sunday the 26th of February in the Bar at 2pm. Please come! And the
theme this time will be 'Close ups' as well as absolutely anything else you
want to bring, just to lure some more of you in!
Close ups: again think of the ways this can be interpreted. You may want to
home in to an interesting area of a weathered door, the bark of a tree,
wrinkled skin, or use a long lens to concentrate on an architectural
detail. There are also signs of Spring pushing up through the ground...
Alternatively, you could really stretch the definition of 'close up': you
could home in to a small aspect of someone's life, or use the camera to
capture an intimate image of a friend's personality. This would undoubtedly
be difficult, so perhaps concentrate on the visual forms, textures and
compositions of more everyday objects. Overcast February light won't
present too many problems with contrast, but if the sun does come out after
a rain storm, get out there!
Hope everything's going ticketyboo, have fun!
Oliver
