Hello everyone! Hope this finds you all well. Some of us had a small but
very pleasant meeting last Sunday to gather ideas, thanks to all who made
it for coming! For those who were unable to make it, this is what we
decided:
We will start things formally at the beginning of next term. That being
regular 'crit' meetings to see each other's work and learn what there is to
be learnt from it, as well as sharing ideas on just about anything
photographic really. We can decide to set ourselves topics to explore, and
see what we all come up with from the same theme; this will broaden our
ways of looking at a certain subject and hopefully (this is the important
bit) make us better photographers! We can decide on which themes to choose
depending on the level of interest in each one; there seems to be a
preference for landscape work and (from among those present at the meeting)
portraiture. Those of us with 'experience' in each area can share their
knowledge and 'run' a meeting. I can do landscape/nature/absract stuff,
maybe someone else can do portaits etc. Get the idea?
The other thing is the darkroom. I think we should all get our hands on
down there next term, so be sure to bring your film cameras next term (and
black and white negatives if you have them), along with any interesting
pictures you would like to share. If you don't have a film camera, don't
worry, I'll sort something out for you.
Lastly, get all your friends to join up if they're interested, we need
numbers! If we're to have an exhibition, the more the merrier!
If there's anything in the meantime you want to ask, just email me!
Have fun,
Oliver
