hi Alain,
    For the server if you don't supply ssl certificates it will fail to
initialize the SSL endpoint and will exit. But in case of clients, if the
certificate files are not provided then it will switch over to the normal
socket operations.

[Malge Nishant] This is exactly the what the problem is. Supply SSL
certificates to the client it will start using SSL transport and will work
fine.
