We have done some testing with gcc 2.95.2 on Solaris 2.7. It seems to work
fine. I believe others are using this combination with some success
although there might be some issue with using purify on the code.

We have also been testing Forte C++ v6.0 (successor to Sun C++ v5.0) on
Solaris 2.8. It seems to work fine too, after a workaround we put into
3.0.2 for what seems to be an uncaught exception bug in the compiler
runtime.

Here our solaris machines are being upgraded to 2.8 so sooner or later we
will be developing on 2.8 with the Forte compiler.
