[omniORB] problem using gdb

Hi,

I can't debug any omniORB-program (including the examples) with newer gdbs. 
I tried GNU gdb 4.17.0.11 with Linux support and GNU gdb 4.18. Both debuggers 
crash immediatly when loading or starting the program. GNU gdb 4.17.0.4
works, 
but offers no thread-support. Multi-threaded non-CORBA progs, using
omni-threads, 
are OK. I'm using omniORB 2.7.1 with egcs 1.1.2 (yes, with
--enable-threads) on
Linux 2.2.10 (SuSE 6.1). Which gdb-Version is the recommended? Or do I realy
have to switch to Redhat? Or can I do something else?
