But effectively it works nice with sequence<octet>.

Will need mofidications in our server, but really more efficient, i tried 
with a small IDL with a client and a server coded in Python, running in 
different address space and exchanging Numeric.array (1200x1200x16bits)... 
nice (<1sec on same host).
