Thanks David!
After I chenged some of the server code not to 
use un-initialized union type values it started working.
There seems to be problem (sometimes) marshaling unions 
or omething very similar. At least that's my perception,
but it may be wrong, of course.
Anyway it works in cases where I don't make use of 
empty union structures.

What comes to mind is some sort of alignmentproblem. There was some issue
with the JavaIDL that caused other ORBs to fail due to alignment. Just a
thought though.
