Take a look at the Blackwood project
(http://www.mozilla.org/projects/blackwood) for a Java-XPCOM bridge. And the
Komodo beta (http://www.activestate.com) includes a Python-XPCOM bridge (at
least on Windows NT, haven't tried the Linux version yet)
