Not sure what "proxy caching mechanisms" you're referring to.  Are you
talking about HTTP proxy caching?  These wouldn't be involved unless you
are using IIOP tunnelled over HTTP.

Here is a good reference to a CORBA performance benchmark that was
fairly thorough in approach:

You should find some good pointers there.  OmniORB was one of the ORBs
they tested (and was the fastest).
