[omniORB] omniEvents_2.1.1

Hi,
I have downloaded the omniEvents_2.1.1 .
I have installed it properly.
set the variables as below.
OMNIEVENTS_LOGDIR=/home/ram/omni/log
OMNINAMES_LOGDIR=/home/ram/omni/log
OMNIORB_CONFIG=/etc/omniORB.cfg

I have used the Naming service previously.
So without problems i am able to do the following
#omniNames &
#omniEvents &
But when i run
#eventc        it dies with the message
Failure contacting Event Channel Factory
#

Have i missed something while installing the omniEvents?
