omniORB 3 pre-release 2 is now available via CVS and FTP.

The release notes are available at

  http://www.uk.research.att.com/omniORB/omniORB_3/ReleaseNote_omniORB_300_pre2.txt

The most significant change is the replacement of the old IDL compiler
with a new omniidl. omniidl now requires the scripting language
Python, version 1.5.2, to compile and run. We recommend that you use a
full Python installation, but if that is problematic, we have made
minimal binary versions for Windows, Solaris and Linux available. You
can get the minimal versions, or the full Python distribution from

  ftp://ftp.uk.research.att.com/pub/omniORB/python/

Alternatively, you can get the full distribution direct from

  http://www.python.org/download/

For instructions on downloading omniORB 3 pre 2, see

  http://www.uk.research.att.com/omniORB/cvs.html

For CVS, you should check-out the omni3_develop branch. For the FTP
snapshots, tomorrow has come early and there is a file dated 20000223.

Binary versions for Windows, Solaris and Linux will follow in a day or
two.

Enjoy,

Duncan.
