If I understand your question correctly, I believe the answer is: It works
for me.

I have java code (on Solaris and NT) calling CORBA objects on NT. The CORBA
objects were developed on NT using OmniORB, and the java code uses either
Sun's j2ee sdk or iPlanet ORBs (which ARE different).

The only problem I've had is with iPlanet I have to have an omninames
service from omniORB 2.8 running to avoid long delays. My code doesn't use
CORBA naming service, but somewhere iPlanet does, and if I point it to a 2.8
omninames, it works without waiting for timeouts. Never got it to work with
omninames 3.0, but I didn't try very hard.

FWIW,
Barry Roberts

Hello Johannes and Duncan,

Some weeks ago, I asked about Java and omniORB. I have found out that I
could
use the ORB that comes with Java Enterprise Edition (from Sun). However, the
other side uses omniORB. So, can I use the Java ORB on my side, and can they
use
omniORB on their side? Will the ORBs communicate via IIOP? Whet are the
issues
and programming/set up tasks to implement such a scheme? Any ideas would be
very
useful. Thanks.

-Nayan.
