[omniORB] Graceful shutdown of omniNames

Hello omniORBers,

We have been using omniNames for some time now and have found it to be
fairly robust. Occasionally, however, we find that the log file is not
usable and we have to delete or rename it and rename the
omninames-node.bak to omninames-node.log. I what happens is that the
system is shutdown while omniNames is in the midst of writing to the log
file.

Has anyone else had problems with this?

I have been thinking about modifying omniNames to allow for a graceful
shutdown (perhaps by plagiarizing the offswitch interface that used to
be part of the test suite that came with snapshot releases of omniORB).

Would this be generally useful? Is this a good way to implement this?
