Hopefully someone can suggest why I am not able to run omniORB2
on my standalone Windows-95 system. I have not been able to find
obviously relevant info in the archives. Any help will be
appreciated. I very much would like to experiment and learn using
omniOrb2. To narrow the problem, I have tried to list all of the
details below. Thanks for your patience in reading them.

I have installed the Windows-95 binary release of version 2.6.0
and rebuilt the echo examples (only) with MSC++ 6 + Patchkit 1 and
gnu-win32-lite. The rebuilt example eg1 runs successfully,
eg2's IOR argument exceeds the DOS window cmd line length limit,
and eg3 fails in trying to contact the naming service.

The environment variable OMNIORB2_CONFIG is set to the filepath
of the configuration file (added after initial failures) which
contains:
NAMESERVICE IOR:. . .
ORBInitialHost localhost
ORBInitialPort 12345

Registry also contains the above 3 values; the IOR has been checked
against the nameservice.exe startup message; localhost is the only
entry in the \WINDOWS\Hosts file; the system was rebooted.

omninames (not rebuilt) is running: Checkpointing completed.

eg3_impl started, then eg3_clt started (in DOS windows).

After some delay ...

eg3_impl: Caught system exception COMM_FAILURE, unable to contact the =
naming service.

eg3_clt: Caught system exception COMM_FAILURE, unable to contact the =
naming service.
hello: cannot invoke on a nil object reference.

omninames is still running.
