[omniORB]Reusing IOR on restart.

Hello,
I have the following problem. I have a Corba server with a main object
registered by the 
naming service. When the server restarts I would like the 'new' main object
to reuse the 
IOR of the previous instance. The main server object is stateless so
creating a new one 
should not be a problem.
I tried to retrieve the IOR from the previous instance and to convert this
IOR to an 
omniORB::objectKey using the octetSequenceToKey method. This results in an
CORBA::MARSHAL 
exception. 
Is this the right approach, and if so, how should I do this.
